Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Career and Technical Education (CTE) encompasses sixteen nationally recognized career clusters, all aimed at equipping students for success in postsecondary education and their chosen career paths.
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs)
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) also play a vital role in CTE programs by helping students gain real-world skills and knowledge. These organizations prepare students for future careers by focusing on leadership, practical application, networking, community involvement, competitive events, and skill development. Examples of CTSOs include Future Farmers of America (FFA), SkillsUSA, and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).
Middle School Career Exploration
During middle school, students complete the YouScience Aptitude and Career Discovery, which evaluates their aptitudes and interests and provides career matches for them to explore. Students are also introduced to our local high school's programs and organizations with a Program of Study Tour at Claiborne High School. Throughout the year, they explore different careers through Virtual Reality career simulations, local career visitors, Hammerbuild on the WSCC Tazewell Campus, and field trips.
